Cumberland County Court Records Search

Cumberland County offers several ways for the public to obtain court records, including

  • Online Access: The statewide onlinecase managementsystem provides public access to Cumberland court records. This system disseminates various record types, though not all are available online. Users may search for criminal cases, civil cases, foreclosures, lien judgments, and criminal judgments.

Access to civil cases and foreclosure records requires persons to create an account or log in to an existing one. Searches may be conducted by docket number or party name. Criminal case records, however, can be searched without creating an account by entering a name or selecting a county.

The state judiciary also maintains a separate database for municipal case searches. This platform allows individuals to review municipal traffic matters and complaint records. Searches can be performed by name, driver’s license number, complaint number, or ticket number.

  • In-Person Access: If a record cannot be found online, individuals may visit the courthouse to search for open cases. Records for closed cases can be obtained from the Superior CourtClerk’sOffice or the courthouse where the case was filed. Courthouses permit on-site review of case records during regular business hours. A requester may inspect files, request copies, or ask staff for assistance in locating a record. Basic identifying details, such as a name or case number, are usually required to complete the search.
  • Mail Requests: Court records may also be requested using a record request form. Although electronic submission is available, Cumberland courts continue to accept requests sent by mail. Requesters may download the form, complete it with the necessary case details, and either upload it for electronic submission or mail the OPRA request form to the appropriate office.

When submitting a request by mail, the requester should include a properly addressed and stamped return envelope and any required fees using an approved payment method.

Fees for Court Records in Cumberland County

Certain fees for court records and related services are established under the New Jersey Statutes. Examples include the following:

  • $50 for exemplified copies, which includes the plain copy attached to the certification
  • $10 for a certificate of divorce

Criminal Records Access in Cumberland County

Criminal case records are maintained by the New Jersey Judicial Branch through its centralized court record system.
